Leslye was taught crewel embroidery by her mother, who started her off at about six years of age. She is still learning over 50 years later. Her interest in cross-stitch developed when introduced to it by her mother-in-law in her mid-twenties.
She has always been involved in art related hobbies, painting, sculpture,
wood carving etc., so starting to design only two years ago has been a
logical step for her, which, in retrospect she should have taken at least
thirty years ago. She will need another 50 years at least to develop all
the designs she has painted.
She is also a member of the South African Embroiderer's Guild. She
will retire to design full time when sufficient market interest in her
designs develops.
